Ottawa County Republicans' Newsletter
December 18, 2025 05:3
Editor's Preamble:
Hello Ottawa County Republicans!
As we wish you a blessed Holiday season with all of the hope and love this season brings, we find ourselves a bit dismayed at how some Republicans are choosing to handle themselves across the country. The Indiana state Senate debacle on redistricting seems to have had the "Mike-Pence" touch all over it, as six Republicans voted against adding two seats to the United States House of Representatives. They refused to answer California's recent success of adding 5 more Democrat house seats to the House.
We remind the Indiana Republican Party that President Trump won in a landslide, including all seven swing states AND the Popular vote. It was a mandate. Indianans wanted the new map, yet their representatives failed them.
We also remind Senate Leader Thune and Speaker Johnson they are beholden to pass the President Trump's agenda and codify his Executive Orders especially on Election Integrity on which they seem to be dragging their feet. *And where do we begin with FIVE "Republican" Michigan Senators who voted yesterday to reverse 634 million in spending cuts the House just passed a few weeks ago!
**We are reminded in Ottawa County that this local Party changed hands a few years ago because of this exact type of behavior from "Republicans" given the above examples. The old Republican Party is not coming back. The citizens will never settle for that again. The sooner these old-time Republicans realize this, the better the Country, our State and County will be.
On that note, we observe our laser-focused goals in the upcoming election year! Trump Republicans will be elected in our state and throughout the national House and Senate as well, because freedom will not be denied in 2026. It is with this very sentiment we wish you a very Merry Christmas because it is the Author of ALL freedom on Whom we fix our eyes and Whose birth we celebrate at Christmas!

*PA 233 Ottawa Onslaught*
PA 233, is legislation that was passed in Lansing by the 2023 Democratically controlled Michigan Congress. PA 233 takes power away from Townships and Municipalities and gives it to the State Government to the degree, that if local citizens weren't actively fighting it by attending meetings and making their voices heard at a constant rate online, outside foreign corporations would have already bulldozed portions of Blendon Township and Zeeland Township with no regard at all for the citizens. ***This is courtesy of Whitmer's Michigan. In Ottawa County, there are currently two such initiatives and we anticipate more. The current two that are proposed in Ottawa are for a Battery storage facility in Blendon Township and now a solar farm proposed for Zeeland Township.
Below are updates of what's going on in both communities and what you can do about it. The update from Zeeland Township is first followed by the Blendon update.
Recent Update From December 9th meeting to discuss Proposed Solar Farm for Zeeland Township...
[i.e. The Residents of Zeeland Township are NOT having it.] *Thank you to Representative Bradley Slagh and Senator Roger Victory as well as Commissioner Joe Moss for attending this meeting.
Also, here is more coverage on last week's meeting from Wood TV8, should you prefer a print article.
**If you're interested in more information from the Zeeland Township proposed Solar Farm and are hearing about this for the first time, read this recent article HERE published by The Hollander. *Although the project has been tabled for now, our experience with these green energy initiatives is that they will keep pushing for it, so this is far from over.
Is there anything you can do to help the cause to fight the Solar Farm in Zeeland Township?
YES. There will be another Public meeting on January 13, 2026, at 7 pm, at Zeeland Charter Township Hall's Lower Level, Byron Road, Zeeland, MI.
You can follow the Facebook Group Zeeland Township Bulletin for updates and information.
Blendon Township Update...
By now, most Ottawa County residents have heard about the fight the citizens and residents of Blendon Township are having with the Blendon Township Board. If you haven't heard about this issue, please read our background information and current update about what is going on in Blendon Township, because even if you don't live in or near Blendon, this exact same problem could be in your own backyard (literally) very soon due to PA 233. It is important to remain informed in order to know what we are up against here in Ottawa County.
