Editor's Preamble:

Hello Ottawa County Republicans,

It's our job to have something to say here in the Preamble. Here's all we've got after the events of the past several weeks.

This is not a time to retreat. It is a time to ADVANCE. Charlie Kirk was assassinated while he was in the act of freely speaking. The Constitution of the United States of America must remain intact in order for America, Michigan and Ottawa to survive.

If you've never been an active conservative before now, now is the time or the time is never.

Ways to become involved are to:

Speak.

Use our voice at Township and School Board Meetings, Board of Commissioner's meetings, on social media, or by putting a sign on your property. Be willing to risk being 'cancelled.'

Give.

Give regularly to conservative causes, like Turning Point USA, like us, the OCRP, or any organization standing up for your Constitutional rights.

Run for office.

If not you, then who?

Run for School Board or Township Board.

Public schools will continue to bend toward communist ideology if strong conservatives aren't on their boards to dissuade the left-fringe vote. Townships will continue to allow Battery Plants like BESS in Blendon Township or government owned housing to be built in your picturesque communities that will devalue your property rights, such as is now happening in the Pacific Palisades after the LA fires. Have you wondered why the Governor and Mayor let LA burn? Will Blendon Township be next?

Can We Keep Our Republic?

That depends on you, the citizen and what you will do.

We are all Charlie now.

We encourage you to follow us on social media if you don't already, in order to keep up with us daily. You can do so on Facebook Here and on Twitter/X Here.

Area News

Have you heard about the fight the citizens and residents of Blendon Township are having with the Blendon Township Board? Several of our Precinct Delegates who live in Blendon Township, a rural, agricultural area of Hudsonville are leading the charge on organizing to help prevent a Korean owned company called "Key Capture Energy" from installing a 12-acre wide lithium battery plant in their Township.

There are several articles here that can help bring you up to speed and inform you. *Please take the time. If this effort wins by destroying 12 acres of agricultural farmland in Blendon, your own neighborhood could be next.

Excellent work here by the Hollander, a newer media outlet here in Ottawa County.

*This first piece gives you the history of Key Capture Energy and how it came to be that an area of Ottawa County was targeted.

Residents Don’t Want 14 Acres of Lithium Battery Energy Storage in Blendon Township...

This second piece below, reports the community's response to KCE and BESS at a Board meeting, held on Monday, August 18.

Blendon Township Residents Speak Against Plans for Battery Energy Storage...

This third piece below covers that on September 15, Blendon citizens again made their thoughts known to the Blendon Township Board, this time at the Blendon Fire Barn in order to accommodate the massive turnout of citizens.

Blendon Twp Residents Ask Board to Take a Stand Against Battery Storage Plans...

For the Blendon Township Board, conversations over a proposed battery energy storage system have been taking place over the last few years. For the residents, the plan has only come to light in the last couple of months.

Is There Anything You Can Do?

Yes. You can attend the next public meeting in Blendon Township and use your voice to speak against this. *However, the meeting originally scheduled for Monday, October 6th has been postponed due to KCE submitting an incomplete application. Please stay tuned by following our Facebook page at OttawaGOP OR you can also follow a Facebook group called the Blendon Bulletin for more information.

*The most important thing you can do if you don't live in or near Blendon Township, is to GO TO your own local Township and Municipality meetings so you know what is going on in your communities. Traditionally, conservatives prefer minding our own business while we live out our freedom, yet when we do that without paying attention to our local government, the left exploits our preference to mind "our own business." The local left is not going to change.  What we can actually change is our own approach to local government if we want to stay free in Ottawa.

Volunteer Highlight

We've had a change in leadership here at the Party. Our fearless leader Brendan Muir, got married this past summer. Brendan is still an active member and volunteer with us, yet in the meantime the Executive Committee has voted in Joel Studebaker of Jamestown as Chair and also Geri McCaleb of Grand Haven Township as Vice Chair. Both Joel and Geri serve our organization with tenacity and dedication. They are what servant leadership is all about.

Local Culture

The owners of a Grand Haven Brewery known as Burzurk Brewing expressed some openly disdainful comments about the assassination of Charlie Kirk on their personal Facebook pages. This upset many local citizens who are tired of watching their community become divisively split on hateful political sides. They miss the good old days of when Grand Haven was a lovely vacation spot where anyone was welcome everywhere. Yet, when a local business (more than one in recent years) comes out and says they don't want any conservatives to come to their establishment and that  they are "glad" Charlie is dead accusing Charlie of being racist without any researched proof of such an accusation, the citizens took it upon themselves to protest the intentional divisiveness in their community. *Thank you to our Vice-Chair and Fundraising Chair for attending the protest as members of the Grand Haven Community.

See Coverage at the links below. *The story is more complete if you view all three posts. You must have a Facebook account to see the information.

It's nice to see the citizens standing up to use their voices.

Local Health

Parents, This is a survey that schools throughout Ottawa County give to students in grades 8, 10 and 12. The last time they issued this assessment was in 2023. They are doing it again this school year. *The questions that are asked are highly inappropriate and an invasion of your school-aged student's privacy. The results of this survey are not shared with the parents/families of the student. The questions are sexually explicit and not something students should be blindsided with in a school setting, but rather discussed at home with their own parents and/or guardians, at a time when parents and guardians decide the appropriate age of development for their child to have such discussions.

We have provided links for you to read what was issued in 2023. To read the survey, click HERE

You have the right to interact with your child's school and OPT OUT.

*Contact your child's school and inform them you are opting your child out of the 2025 YAS Survey.
