How the Local Party System Works
Supplementary To The Truth is in the Foreground/Update
It's interesting to observe how the local Party system works and why per se it "seems like" the Democrats are growing here in Ottawa. It's important to ask, is that really true or it is just designed for the Public to think it's true?
This Precinct Delegate's results report [directions to access are below] from the August- 2024 Primary demonstrates the truth about the local Democratic Party. As the report shows, the Ottawa County "Dems" have about 20 precinct delegates (give or take.) The Republican Party has upwards of 375. Usually when this happens, it typically means that the local Party doesn't necessarily want to hear the people's voice and is instead supported by large donor money. Typically when the local Party doesn't recruit for these open seats, it's because the few of them who are in charge do not want the people's 'voice' getting in the way of their corporate agenda and of course it's much easier to control their local message with only 20 delegates.
It's also much easier in this regard to make a top-down, authoritarian, fringe-left agenda seem popular when there are only twenty of them. This way only 20 people are making the decisions, instead of 375. Twenty delegates can fall in line and blatantly agree that sexualized content is fine for kids. Does having a big Party get messy sometimes with 375 seated delegates? Yes it does, because the first amendment IS messy. Yet when it's all said and done, the precinct delegates as representatives of their precincts, make the decisions together in spite of the difficult nature the First-Amendment process can present sometimes at conventions, because it ultimately leads to a better chance of unity overall. We don't believe that if the Dems had 375-400 seated delegates as we do, that every single one of them would agree that sexualized content in the Public Square is exactly what they all want. If the Ottawa County Dems actually gave democracy a chance, we suspect that many of them would disagree with the decisions being made by the Grand Haven City Council and the Grand Haven Pride Festival. The pride festival's first amendment right does not give them permission to present sexualized content to children and the visitors of Grand Haven who wander by on a summer Saturday.

*Disclaimer to source. *Sometimes the election information is very difficult to get to on the County Website. There can be roadblocks on the website sometimes when content is removed or put behind a multi-step process. It may be necessary to go to the County building and ask them to print it for you, but really, any August Primary election of the last several years depicts the nature of the Dem Precinct delegates versus Republican [meaning, the Primary results of August 2022 will also show this.]. In essence, the only "party" the Dems have in Ottawa is funded by donors from most-likely outside of Ottawa. We are a Country by the people, for the people, and of the people. In essence, the delegation IS the Party, given the system our Founders set up. According to the definition, the Dems don't technically have a Party in Ottawa because their delegation is EMPTY. Yet, the perception is they are enormous and growing, in spite of their delegation remaining almost empty.
