Opinion-5 minute read
Here is an update related to our article from last month that appeared in our June Newsletter published on June 25 regarding the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals decision for Naples, Florida to require Drag Queen performances indoors and be advertised for 18+.
There was a response in the Grand Haven Tribune by one of the Pride Festival organizers on July 1st. *In the article the pride organizer stated "...The Ottawa GOP has already said that people who are not 'gender-conforming' are dangerous to kids---so you feel free to do anything you want to them."
FAKE NEWS!
The author did not link to this alleged claim, which of course is required in ethical journalism when a fact is asserted, even when claiming an opinion. We have however, confidently put forward that normalizing sexual content to the community's children publicly is dangerous to kids and that not every person who happens to be walking by the incident of adult entertainment in the Public Square believes *this content (1) is safe for their children, given that the age of consent is 18.
Therefore, please see below how the OCRP Responded to this Fake News
When the Pride festival organizer posted the Grand Haven Tribune article link to their public Facebook page on July 2nd, we said this in response.

To the Grand Haven Tribune's article written by this same individual, we posted the following statement below their article on the GHT's website:

It's interesting that even when we acknowledge the Pride Festival's first amendment right to exist and we clarify that we're only asking for their organization to honor the law which means removing sexualized content from the Public Square, [as the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals has already ruled], it's perceived by the organizer as an "attack." Additionally, we have no idea what they mean by "death dealing" or "violence;" these comments appear to defame the Ottawa GOP.
As you can see, in spite of inflammatory misinterpretations we remain focused on the core issue of sexualized content in the Public Square and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals agrees with us. We will keep fighting and reporting the truth, using our first amendment right to do so. *If you support this cause, please show your support by becoming a recurring donor for $5 per month in order help us continue the work of fighting for the innocence and safety of children to have the Public Square free of sexualized content. *The age of consent is 18.

The pride organizer claims it is his "opinion," yet it is still a false claim. [email protected]
