Tribute to Scott Frank
Integrity, gentle-spirit, Mr. Smiley, Godly man. These were among the many words used to describe Scott Frank at his funeral Monday morning, August 12. Scott was one of our beloved precinct delegates from Jamestown. He passed away in the early hours of Tuesday morning, Aug. 6, after a 5-year long battle with colon cancer. Later that day (election day) he won his race for precinct delegate; however, he had already won a much greater race that morning for which we rejoice. He is now smiling in heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
Scott was known and loved by many in his community. He had a servant’s heart and never said no to someone in need. He helped single mothers by fixing their cars, served with his wife in the church nursery, and mentored young men through Mentor Me. Scott served as a precinct delegate for the past several years helping to knock doors and inform his neighbors of local Republican Party issues and candidates. This past year he even recruited another enthusiastic (and smiley, I might add) young man to become a delegate who will no doubt carry on his torch and has already hit the ground running knocking doors.
Here is great picture of Scott from campaign season 2022 on a door-knocking Saturday. He is wearing the white Karamo shirt, standing next to Gretchen Cosby. It's easy to see how joyful he was and how much he loved his work as a precinct delegate.
He never made a show of his generosity or work but very much enjoyed being a “behind the scenes” type guy. He never turned down an opportunity to serve others and always did it with a smile on his face. Even when he was struggling through chemo treatments, he still showed up to one of our precinct delegate meetings and he felt terrible that he wasn’t strong enough to go door-knocking. We told him just to take it easy and not to worry about it, yet admired the yearning of his heart to continue his delegate work! His love for the Lord and love for others never faded, even when his strength did.
Scott also loved spending time enjoying the beauty of God’s creation, whether it be camping, hiking, or hunting. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He had the joy of walking his daughter down the aisle earlier this year. What a blessing that God gave him the strength to do that!
Here are a few memories from fellow delegates:
Scott was always kind, gracious, encouraging and gentle in spirit. - Darlene Dykstra
I will always remember Scott for his kind and gentle spirit. He was a servant for the Lord and it showed in his demeanor. He took on the Hudsonville Fair event last year and even though he was in a lot of pain most of the time, he did not talk about it but was always willing to keep going as if it wasn't there. He loved being around people and he had the greatest smile! He saw the best in everyone! He is healed now and will be reaping his rewards from THE GREAT I AM, his Savior, Jesus Christ! - Joe and Laura Potgeter
Scott texted me just hours before he passed asking how he could vote since he was in the hospital…and how could he advise others there on how to vote! That just gives a glimpse of the man he was – putting the needs of others above his own, servant-hearted, focused on making a difference. Scott loved God and loved his neighbor. I will remember him as a servant of Christ who always had a smile on his face. Scott will be greatly missed in our community. – Joel Studebaker
When Caroline and I would walk into a crowded room, we would hear that Scott Frank laugh, so joyful and so recognizable. We looked at each other and said, “I don’t see him, but that’s definitely Scott Frank. He is here for sure!” – Jeff King
Scott was a dear friend and patriot who will be greatly missed by many. While we are sad at the loss of such a great man, we are also rejoicing with him that he is no longer in pain but is praising his Father in heaven! I can just picture his smiling face as he hugs his Savior tight. What a glorious day!
