Volunteer Highlight-Meet Secretary Cheryl Tague

Ottawa County Republican Party Secretary
Meet Cheryl Tague! In December of 2024, we voted for new officers for the Executive Committee. Cheryl Tague was voted in as our new Secretary. We decided it was time for you to get know her better because we are appreciative of her time and commitment to the OCRP.
What do you love most about Ottawa County?
When I moved back to Michigan nearly four years ago, I found exactly what I sought. I appreciate residing in a safe community rooted in faith, family, and freedom. --Ottawa County is different, not only in how it is networked and its constitutionality, but also its grassroots' activists are engaged and activated. Ottawa is also known for having the feel of suburban neighborhoods, beautiful countryside, and Lake Michigan’s stunning beaches. I love patronizing the historic small businesses, family-run restaurants, boutiques, and charming shops full of local crafts and souvenirs. I’m also content living just minutes from my daughter and her family, who are liberty activists.
Why did you get involved as a precinct delegate? Specifically, what motivated you to get involved with Republican politics?
Liberty is valued in Ottawa County, a Constitutional County, where freedom rings. I love being a resident and a valued, motivated team member who preserves key principles and rights, not only for myself, my family, and my fellow Republicans, but also for those who may not politically align with me.
Is there something specific you enjoy about being the Party Secretary? (If not the Secretary position, then the question  can be, Is there something specific you enjoy about serving your community by being involved with the Party?)
As the Secretary of the Ottawa County Republican Party Executive Committee, I enjoy collaborating with God-loving Republicans who are committed to our shared values and focused on advancing the Committee’s Main Objectives for 2025–2026. I draw on my previous administrative experience to fulfill the responsibilities outlined in the Charter of the Administration Subcommittee. Most of all, I value the meaningful relationships that have grown through serving on the Executive Committee.
What do you do for fun?
I am an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys tent and RV camping, bicycling, hiking, and spending time near the water—whether it's Lake Michigan, an inland lake, or a peaceful river. I also love the adventure and relaxation that comes with taking cruises. Since moving back to Michigan, I've cherished the opportunity to spend more time with my children and grandchildren and reconnect with lifelong friends.
