Precinct Delegate Dale Mohr--Ottawa County Republican Party
This past Friday, January 16, we learned of the passing of beloved Precinct Delegate from Holland, Dale Mohr. Dale has been active with the OCRP for a long time, serving as Precinct Delegate from the city of Holland for many years.
Prior to politics, Dale was a proud veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1958-1962. After service, Dale owned and operated Mohr Electric for 24 years. Also, many years back he was the President of the Home Builders Association.
Dale was also a T-Ball Coach. One of our precinct delegates knew Dale in his role as a coach and shared that, "He was a great 'coach' who emphasized and promoted being a 'team.' He was well-liked by the whole team!" The Delegate also shared that Dale was always eager to help when people asked.
He is remembered as well as a loyal and active member of the Republican Party, serving on a variety of committees, including most recently, the Accountability Subcommittee under Chair John DeBlaay. He was a team player. He was teachable and valued truth in all manner of his dealings with the Party and the Accountability Subcommittee.
Another one of our Precinct Delegates shared this moving story: "I met Dale at the first potluck we hosted as the new OCGOP back in February of 2022. He used a walker and I stopped to ask him if he'd like me to carry his plate of food to his table. We engaged in conversation and he shared with me that his wife passed away during the Covid lockdowns. She'd had a severe illness and was in nursing care. *For two years he'd not been able to visit her in person. Each day he spoke with her on the phone until the day he was informed she had passed. From that point on, I sought him out to bring him his coffee at the EC meetings, etc. My husband and I were privileged to enjoy a growing friendship over the years. He was a kind, sweet, gentle and thoughtful gentleman. He was strong in expressing his opinions which were usually based on experience, yet always kind and teachable." Dale Mohr will be greatly missed by many in the Ottawa County Republican Party.
