The Old Rules Don't Apply Today

Driving around the Grand Haven area you can’t help but notice all the Harris-Walz signs in people’s yards. They sprung up almost overnight.

It seems that the most educated, most well to do people, are gravitating to Harris while regular folks, are looking to Trump. The long-time alignment of the Democrat Party being for the working man and the Republicans being for the elites seems to be turning upside down as our borders are open and inflation is devastating the common man.

The fact that Kamala Harris makes no sense when she speaks, doesn’t seem to matter. She’s been telling us that Biden was sharp as a tack until his mental confusion was displayed for all to see in the debate with Donald Trump. Democrats don’t seem to mind that she was handed the nomination without one supporting vote or any public consideration of another choice.

It doesn’t matter what she says or does or how she reacts because just like Joe, she is not in charge. She is just the face of the committee behind the scenes willing to do and say whatever she is told. It’s only a problem when the teleprompter stalls and she is stuck at “32 days” and can’t imagine how that sentence ends.

She plays the typical game of creating class envy by saying that billionaires don’t pay their fair share of taxes. The truth is the average citizen doesn’t pay taxes if their income is below a certain level, and if you have kids, the government often sends you money.

Those who employ people; who build things; these are the folks who pay the greatest share of taxes. The people who create jobs for others; those who built our great middle class to make the US the envy of the world should be cheered. Yet Harris vilifies these people for wanting to keep more of the fruit of their own labor.

How many people has Biden employed, or Harris? What have they ever built? As government employees their entire lives, how did they end up as millionaires?

To listen to the campaign, even though Donald Trump has not been president for the past four years, he is vilified by the Dems and the mainstream media, as the cause of all the problems in the nation.   Zero blame goes to the present administration with its open borders and sky-high inflation.

These same tactics have been used against our County Commission. The organizers of the multitude of Progressive PACs in Ottawa County have waged a smear campaign against a group of average citizens who tried to make a difference against an entrenched bureaucracy of politicians who have been in place for decades. These new folks decided not to be rubber stamps and actually do the work of a commission and ask questions on behalf of the taxpayer and citizen.

In a recent endorsement ad for certain school board candidates came the warning, if you don’t vote for their chosen, you are voting for extremists.  There seems to be no room for an honest difference of opinion and that is dangerous in a free society.

In the meantime, our present school board adopted new Title IX rules without even the courtesy of an open discussion with the parents of the students in their school system.  With the stroke of a pen Joe Biden signed an executive order expanding title 9. Under the guise of nondiscrimination, these rules allow boys to play on girls’ sports teams, to use girls’ bathrooms and girl’s locker rooms, and teachers must use preferred pronouns. Parents are only one small part of the equation.  I remember in school hating to change in front of other girls; doing so in front of boys would be unthinkable and school administrators would have thought it unthinkable. How things have changed! God made men and women different for a reason. Legislation or wishing it so does not change this.

This election season has been one for the books from the primary and into the general election. Long standing rules, written and unwritten, are being cast aside by both sides as our election process has become a plaything for consultants and manipulators with party labels being used for votes and not necessarily for principle. I have never been one to use the write in option on my ballot, but Michigan’s open primary has allowed manipulation of the primary system. I for one will no longer allow this cross over vote to determine my choice and so in my district I have decided that I will exercise my opportunity to use the write in option.

The 2020 election, we were told, was “the most secure in history.” Let’s just say that little bit of hyperbole was just that. The voting rules in Michigan, under the guise of making voting easier has also made cheating easier. Our own Joselyn Benson has lost in court repeatedly as her rules are being challenged, 10 to 0. Little problems like our voter roles are at 105% over our voting age of the population, the “presumption of validity of absentee ballots,” Democrat poll workers outnumbering Republicans in Detroit by 7 to 1 puts those claims of “the most secure election” in doubt.

November 5 is just around the corner. Hang on tight.
